The academic school year has officially come to a close at Waynesburg University; therefore, this blog will be on a bit of a hiatus until students return to campus in the fall.
Keep an eye out for the witty quotes, creative events and conference updates that are sure to be posted soon.
Thanks for a great year!
The first graduating class of Waynesburg University Society of Professional Journalist seniors are (from left) Angela Wadding, Amanda Wishner, Kyle Edwards and Sarah Bell. All four SPJ seniors are communication majors with an emphasis in print journalism. They graduate on May 19.
We wish our seniors the best of luck in all of their future endeavors; they will be missed.
Don’t worry. The picture of the SPJ members that will actually appear in the Mad Anthony, Waynesburg University’s yearbook, is both beautiful and serious.
Even though we’re a professional organization, sometimes goofing around makes for a better environment – right?
So, here we are – the first group of Waynesburg SPJ members (in all our glory).
(From left) SPJ adviser Brandon Szuminsky, Chelsea Dicks, Sarah Bell, Katherine Mansfield and Nick Farrell attended the Region 1 Conference at Rutgers University.
Though it was an SPJ event, the members attended the conference to accept a Mark of Excellence award for the university’s newspaper, the Yellow Jacket. The paper received second place.
During the conference, the SPJ members attended a number of useful sessions; they learned about covering tragedies on campus, editorial cartoons, narratives and much more.
At a meeting Monday, the following students were selected as next year’s SPJ officers:
President: Katherine Mansfield
Vice President: Kelly Witas
Secretary: Nick Farrell
Treasurer: Abby Lutcher
Historian: Jenny Schouppe
Congratulations to all five of you!
